Guaranteed Scorpion Control in Las Vegas
Why is professional scorpion removal important? It’s because they’re not just creepy – they can actually be quite dangerous if they come too close. Keep in mind that all scorpions are venomous. However, some scorpions are more venomous (and dangerous) than others. Unfortunately for us, the most dangerous scorpion in the United States is found here – the Arizona bark scorpion.
Getting stung by an Arizona bark scorpion can cause severe muscle spasms, nausea, and vomiting in healthy adults. It can be even more dangerous for children, the elderly, vulnerable populations, and pets. In rare cases, scorpion stings can lead to allergic reactions, and in extremely rare cases, even death.
Here are the reasons why professional scorpion control is a must:
- Scorpions can be dangerous: As we just went over, scorpions are not always dangerous but they can be. Remember, all scorpions are venomous.
- They often live in “packs”: Finding one or two scorpions often means there are many more. Even if you kill off a few, they’ll likely be back in greater numbers soon.
- Expert identification: An expert scorpion exterminator will be able to tell you exactly which species you’re dealing with and how dangerous they are.
- Safe treatment: Scorpion control technicians know how to apply treatments so they’re both effective and safe.
- Long-term peace of mind: At Pest Control Inc, we don’t just eliminate the active scorpion infestation. We’ll also implement advanced exclusion measures to prevent future ones.

Our Scorpion Control Process
At Pest Control Inc, our goal is to get rid of the scorpions and make sure they don’t come back. Through a combination of state-of-the-art treatments and effective exclusion, here’s how we make that happen:
- Exclusion: We start with exclusion, removing any potential entry points for scorpions. We know where they are likely to get in and which paths they are likely to follow.
- Interior service: We apply targeted treatments where it will have the most effect. Whether that’s cracks and crevices, kitchens, bathrooms, exterior doors and thresholds, plumbing penetrations, around windows, or the garage. If there are scorpions there, we’ll find them.
- Exterior service: Helps provide long-term protection and safety when you spend time outside.
- Regularly scheduled follow-up service: The key to year-round pest prevention includes perimeter baiting, monitoring, and application of granular and gel baits as needed.
Common Scorpions in the Las Vegas Area
While the dangerous Arizona bark scorpion is quite common here, we do have other less dangerous types of scorpions, too. The problem is that many of these scorpion species resemble one another, so you may need an expert to help you tell them apart.
Commonly found scorpions in Las Vegas include:
- Arizona bark scorpion: The light brown Arizona bark scorpion is the most commonly seen, and they usually live in packs of between 25 and 30. They can give birth to 35 babies at one time, and often live to be six years old.
- Striped bark scorpion: These scorpions look almost exactly like Arizona bark scorpions, but their venom isn’t as potent, and they’re not as dangerous. (But you still don’t want to get stung, as their stings can be painful). The problem is that they can be extremely difficult to tell the difference between these and Arizona bark scorpions. One of the biggest differences is their temperament and aggressiveness. Striped bark scorpions are much more docile than the more aggressive Arizona bark scorpion.
- Desert hairy scorpion: These are fairly large scorpions, and their venom is relatively mild. However, their coloring is still fairly close to that of bark scorpions, so it can be difficult to distinguish them without the help of an expert.
- Stripe-tailed scorpion: Tired of scorpions that are hard to tell apart from one another yet? Good news – here’s another. The stripe-tailed scorpion is relatively small with similar light-brown to beige coloring. Their venom is moderate, but they’re often skittish and avoid humans.
How Dangerous Are Scorpions in Your Home or Outside?
It varies. For healthy adults, most scorpions are not a big risk. But you still don’t want to get stung because their stings are on a par with a bee sting – ouch! And the sting of the Arizona bark scorpion, the most dangerous type, is both painful and potentially harmful to anyone, including healthy adults.
The greatest danger comes from the fact that Arizona bark scorpions are so common here, and unless you’re a scorpion expert, it can be extremely difficult to tell which kind you’re dealing with. That’s why it’s a good idea to call a professional scorpion exterminator if you’re dealing with scorpions of any kind on your property. It’s better safe than sorry – especially if you have young children or curious pets that like to root around.
Can You Prevent Scorpions in Your Home?
Controlling scorpions begins by taking care of your exterior and making sure the area is not inviting to scorpions. Here are a few things you can do:
- Keep the grass mowed: This minimizes areas scorpions can hide on your property
- Don’t let trash or clutter accumulate: More trash equals potential food sources and hiding places
- Consider planting lavender around the yard: Scorpions are averse to the smell
- Close any gaps in your exterior structure, including in walls, doors, and windows: Scorpions only need a gap the thickness of a credit card to squeeze in.
- Check your window screens: Scorpions are adept climbers and often get in through torn window screens
