Creepiest Las Vegas Pests

From Wolf spiders to scorpions, one thing is certain Nevada is home to some of the most interesting pests in North America. In this blog post, we’ll list some of the creepiest pests and their behaviors.

Assassin Bugs

Assassin Bugs have flat backs with flared-up abdomen. They’re mostly dark brown or black and sometimes have red or orange dots on their backs. These small pests have a strong beak on them that they use to violently stab their prey with. They can be found in gardens and shrubs as they search for other insects. If you come in contact with an Assassin bug, they may leave an unforgettable painful bite.

Bed Bugs

Bed bugs are small rice-sized pests that feed off human blood. These nocturnal pests live in cracks and crevices and furniture. They can easily infest any new location by hitching a ride on clothing or luggage. Fortunately, bed bugs don’t cause real harm other than mental distress and itchy bites.

Black Widows are the most venomous spider in the US. These pests can be found in dry, dark places including vegetation and brush piles. If they’re disturbed or feel threatened they may bite you.

Fire ants are aggressive little pests. They’re known to live near water sources, like your lawn. If you disturb their nest, they will likely attack you and leave you full of itchy welts.

Giant Desert Hairy Scorpions

Coming in at about 5 inches, The Giant Desert Hairy Scorpion is one of the largest scorpion species. In fact, they’re so large they can eat lizards and mice. They’re typically yellow with a dark-colored back. In addition to its stinger, these pests also have crab-like pincers. Desert Hairy Scorpions typically live in the desert but will travel to suburban areas where they may burrow into yards.

Wolf Spiders

With their large size and loads of hair, wolf spiders look intimidating to many people. These pests are efficient and agile predators. While they typically prefer to live outdoors, they’ve been known to wander into homes in search of heat or mates. Wolf Spiders will not attack you at first, but they may react aggressively if picked up or cornered.
